What is amazing in the Fantasy genre is that anything and everything can happen.
Fantasy genre was as the most entertaining to me. Reading about skeletons being good guys, a mouse wanting to be friends with a cat, and a boy being raised by ghost in a graveyard had me hooked. I think young girls would love to continue reading about Babymouse adventure in her books series. For young boys I think they would go more for the Skulduggery Pleasant series that has action and mystery. The good thing about Fantasy is that their are plenty make-believe characters for everyone, if not you can invent your own.

Set #4
In the books I read for Historical Fiction I learned that even though the author adds a few ideas or events of their own the history of the main topic has to be written with accuracy.
I enjoyed reading The Watsons go to Birmingham, 1963. I particularly loved the family's dynamic. Mother and father were very fair when it came to disciplining their children. They were together through good and bad, even when Byron was at his worst they always stayed firm in their beliefs.

Set #2
In Informational Books, the content is important but the presentation of the material is crucial to appeal to readers.
The book that made an impression, was the Hitler Youth. I remember learning about World War II, and Hitler in history class but not about the impact Hitler had in the life of many German young children. It is unimaginable the harm Hitler did to his people, his country, and the whole world.

In evaluating picture books my first impression was that the illustrations were the most important part of the evaluation. To my surprise the evaluation consist of other elements including setting, plot and theme. It is a collaboration of many elements to make a good picture book appealing to the readers.
I personally liked Martina the beautiful cockroach. This is a story full of culture and tradition. I want to read this book to my daughter and hopefully she learns something for the future. = )

Set #3
Contemporary Realistic Fiction was the genre I enjoyed the most and thought that had the most relatable topics for young children now in days.
I personally enjoyed and thought Catherine from Rules was a very true and raw character going through many changes personally and also trying to figure out a way to help her brother. I felt compassion to her struggles.
Out of my mind reminded me about the book I read last semester Stuck in Neutral.
I was also pleasantly surprise that two of the books that were in the list are movies. But I think the books are always better, not to discredit the amazing movie productions.

Pleasant. NY: HarperCollins.

The name Skulduggery Pleasant is an oxymoron; a skeleton
man associated with death is not the typical good guy in any book. When Stephanie Edgley loses her uncle, a
horror story author she had thought his books were all fiction. It is not after meeting Skulduggery Pleasant
that she realizes her uncle’s stories were not all make believe. Skulduggery became Stephanie’s protector.

Not quite a novel, a picture book, nor a graphic
novel. This book stands on its own in
style and presentation. The magical
world created by Selznick is set in Paris.
His illustrations takes us where the characters are living. The vivid experiences the characters go
through and their outcome give the readers a sprinkle of magical touch.
