The use of the animals for this story are very symbolic culturally in the Hispanic culture. The illustrations use a composition of elements to tell the story. Characters show emotion and distance. Emotion when Martina is testing her suitors. Distance when she is speaking to her suitors. At the ones she was not interested she was further away that her last suitor which she took an interests she was closest in approximation to him. The colors are earth tone and the texture of Martina gives her a 3-D feel to appreciate her beauty.
