Bod's family has been murdered and he ends up in a graveyard as a toddler. There he is protected by the spirits and nonliving. The graveyard is the only safe place for Bod to be, because his family's murderer is still looking for him.
A graveyard is no place for anyone to be especially at a
young age. An orphan being raised by the
nonliving? Nobody Owens, known as Bod to
his friends and family lives in a graveyard.
The place where someone might feel the least safe is the only place
where Bod is truly safe. The story has a
realistic setting in the begging in Bod’s family house where his father,
mother, and older sister are being murdered by Jack. The story line then shifts to a mystical
place where living and nonliving intertwine.
Jack is in great danger and is only safe in the graveyard, because Jack
is still looking for him to kill him. Gaiman
takes the reader to a mysterious place of ghost and evil spirits.
